Water and Culture

Discover the "Wasserviertel" (riverside quarter) with its former docks, the Old Crane and the "Ensemble Abtsmühle" featuring the 'old' water tower. You can then visit the 'new' water tower - or "Wasserturm" - built in 1907. From an almost 60-metre height on the heritage-protected landmark's observation deck, you'll have a unique panoramic view of Lüneburg and its surrounds.

Salt and Low-Lying Area

Discover the Lüneburg "Senkungsgebiet" (low-lying area). Your city guide will take you on a walk through historical residential streets where the effects of salt mining are visible. The entire area was meant to be extensively redeveloped about 30 years ago, but the citizens of Lüneburg prevented this. Today, the western Old Town is one of Lüneburg's main attractions. An absolute must see!

Town Hall Tour

Come and explore this historical building with our town hall guides. Its rooms and halls were built between the 13th and 18th centuries - such as the medieval assembly gallery from 1330 or the 15th-century "Fürstensaal" (Sovereign Hall).

The Great City Tour

See more of Lüneburg! The Great City Tour combines the Classic tour with the Salt & 'Senkungsgebiet' guided tour.

Classic Tour Including a Visit to the Town Hall

This tour leads you to the city's most important sights, as well as the medieval Lüneburg Town Hall. After the walk through the chambers, it's worth taking a look around the gardens.
